Our Revolution Boulder Announces First Event, Rise for Climate
Boulder—Local environmentalists and progressive politicians will join thousands of activists across the world on September 8 to rally support for and awareness about the dire state of our planet.
Boulder’s “Rise for Climate” event, sponsored by Our Revolution Boulder, will take place at Boulder’s Central Park Bandshell from 12pm-2pm.
The environmental event is part of a global day of action created by the Peoples Climate Movement, which envisions a world where private and public leaders work to protect our planet. Climate experts, community leaders, and progressive politicians will take part in the Our Revolution Boulder event. The goal is to spread climate awareness, and demand bold, immediate action to transition from fossil fuels and combat climate change.
Speakers for the September 8 event at the Central Park Bandshell include:
- Anne Lee Foster or Suzanne Spiegel, Colorado Rising
- Brooke Dryden, East Boulder County United
- Mark Williams, former candidate for congressional district 2
- Cliff Willmeng, candidate for Boulder County commissioner
- Theresa Stets, candidate for state house district 2
- Physicians for Social Responsibility
- The Gross Dam Expansion
- Save Our St. Vrain
“With the imminent threat of fracking at our doorstep and an abandonment of leadership by our elected officials, the Boulder community needs to stand up and be heard,” said Thomas Williams, chair of Our Revolution Boulder. “Experiencing the hottest summer in years only shows the time is now for action on climate change. Our Revolution Boulder could not think of a more appropriate kickoff event for our group of passionate volunteers who care deeply about protecting our water, air and majestic environment here in Colorado. There is no other Colorado hiding somewhere.”
